President's Message - August 12, 2020
Dear Fellow Rotarians,

August is Membership and Club Development Month.  RI President Holger Knaack and District Governor Yuichi Fukuhara have both reiterated the importance of growing Rotary and developing healthy, vibrant Clubs around the world.  In my induction speech I too spoke about growing our Club as it is one of three strategic priorities for the year (the other two being our Cause and ensuring Continuity).

One key area to growing our Club is to increase participation of our current members. How so?  By being flexible and more nimble particularly during these unprecedented times so members can stay active with the Club.  Members have a few more options now:  attend a daytime meeting or an evening social fellowship event; choose a daytime attendance option (in-person or virtual).
Communication with the members has also been enhanced with Northern Star now an e-Bulletin.  .

One might say attending our Wednesday meetings is important which they are, but what’s most important is the level of “participation” by each of our members.  We joined Rotary so we can participate in various community service projects from tree-planting to picking up trash along our highway, from distributing dictionaries to 3rd graders to decorating a facility which provides critical social services to you and their families so that we can share the spirit and joy of Christmas, from promoting peace and good will to raising funds through a bowling funfest to support our club service projects, etc.  The key to our success as a Club is having active members – participating and sharing fellowship with one another.

Rotary Opens Opportunities.  Let’s make RCNG a much stronger Club this year by being once again an active Rotarian.

Yours in Rotary,  P Hermie
